Having been involved in learning and teaching martial arts for the past 28 years it was a natural progression for me to learn a system of healing and helping others. Having personal experience of the effects of acupuncture for the long term treatment of chronic lower back pain, I decided to learn how to be an acupuncturist. In 2007 I was successful in applying to the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading (one of the most highly regarded acupuncture colleges in Europe) to start 3 and a half years training in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
These 3 and a half years ended up changing my life in so many ways. I gradually learned the necessary skills of the trade from some of the best and most experienced practitioners in the country, but it was tough work that is for sure. I finally graduated in 2010, after spending time successfully treating a large number of patients in the student clinic. And so with a degree in acupuncture in my hand, the start of my dream was about to begin.
I soon started up my own practice in Southampton, and have had the great pleasure to work with and treat some amazing people. I have learned so much already, but I am aware that this is a life long journey, with many ups and downs, however I am always committed to supporting every one of my patients along their journey to achieve greatness.
My practice integrates two ‘styles’ of acupuncture - Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The two styles used together form an integrated approach and provide a greater variety of diagnostic methods and treatment options to benefit clients.
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the registering body for professional acupuncturists in the UK. I abide by the Council’s Code of Safe Practice and Code of Professional Conduct and adhere to strict clinical hygiene standards. I also regularly update my practice skills by following an individual programme of continuing professional development.
